B-Kleer™ BP 10 Cleansing Lotion (OTC Drug) Q: Can Benzoyl Peroxide be irritating? A: Yes, it is an irritant. It can cause drying and peeling; along with mild redness and possible swelling if left on too long. Q: How do I know what an adverse reaction is? A: Benzoyl Peroxide can also cause a brief tingling sensation or a warm feeling. If this feeling lasts for more than 5 minutes, do not leave on as long the next time you use it. Q: Can I use this with an alcohol based astringent? A: No, they are too drying to the skin and cause additional oils to be secreted. The use of AHA/Glycolic Acid will help keep this under control. BHA (Salicylic Acid) products are also irritants and can cause some dryness. There is no reason to cause or create more dryness than necessary. New alcohol-free astringents or toners will give you much greater relief. Q: Can this product be used over the entire face? A: Yes, as well as other body parts.
